This petition is about adding more trash cans around Manchester and Singing Beach. Have you ever been walking around town and need to throw away your trash? When you look around you can't find a trash can nearby, but you don't want to carry it around. Some people would rather drop their trash on the ground than wait to pass a trash can. This leads to trash ending on the ground and eventually ending up in our ocean.

We want to add more trash cans around downtown Manchester and on Singing Beach. At the beach it is very important that all trash makes its way into a trash can because otherwise it will most likely end up in our ocean. The only trash cans at the beach are at the entrance and some people don’t want to carry their trash back to the entrance so they end up leaving it behind in the sand. Even in other spots around downtown Manchester there are very few trash cans and some people don’t want to go search for them so they just drop their trash on the ground.

 This issue affects everybody in Manchester and all of the tourists wanting to visit our town and beaches. It also affects the businesses in our town who make most of their money off the tourists that visit our beautiful beaches. If people visit our town and find trash on the beaches they might not want to come back which leads to businesses having less customers and less revenue. Trash on our beaches and around town can damage the reputation of our town and can ruin the beautiful town we live in.

 We hope that this letter has opened your eyes to the problems with not having enough trash cans and hope you will support our efforts to add more trash cans around the town of Manchester and on Singing Beach.
