Keep Livingston Fair & Welcoming!

We, the undersigned who live, work, travel through, visit or otherwise spend time in Livingston, NJ, believe that Livingston is a diverse and inclusive town with lots to offer -- and want to keep it that way!
We respectfully urge the Township to join neighboring towns by adopting a Fair & Welcoming Resolution, which will demonstrate our welcoming spirit by providing protections for vulnerable communities.
The Resolution would state that our town will not use our local police officers, who devote themselves to serving and protecting us, to enforce federal immigration law through voluntary agreements with the federal government. Communities and police across the country recognize that these agreements erode trust between police and the community, and discourage those who feel vulnerable from reporting crimes and assisting police.
The Resolution would also commit to creating strong anti-discrimination and privacy protections for individuals regardless of perceived or actual immigration status, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, or religion, and promote the creation of programs to enhance our support for immigrant and other vulnerable communities.
Thank you in advance for taking a stand, and we look forward to working with you to enact and implement these policies.
