Most of the Lab-Grown meat that is used in the US comes from China.

Under USDA rules, Chinese-processed meat can be used in the National School Lunch Program and other federal child nutrition programs, despite the fact that children are particularly vulnerable to foodborne illnesses and dangerous chemicals.

Lab-grown meat is an experimental food. It is made in factory “bioreactors.” Companies take animal cells, put them in a bioreactor, and then add a chemical growth serum with hormones and other growth factors. Eventually, there’s enough cellular mass to make a patty or meatball. The production process requires heavy use of antibiotics and hazardous materials. Diseases can spread throughout a facility or into the product during that process. And there are also as yet unknown health and safety risks for humans eating cultured meat.

My child had done an experiment with meat like this and he came home sick. He was vomiting everywhere and had a high fever. I took him to the doctor and it turned out that the meat touched his skin and the chemicals and bacteria on the meat caused him to get sick

There are several reasons parents are concerned about lab-grown meat:

There are no studies on its long-term health effects.
Companies don’t have to disclose what exactly is used in the chemical growth serum.
Some companies use “immortalized” cells that grow like a tumor, according to Bloomberg News.
Some lab-grown meat samples have had concerning levels of lead, according to Bloomberg.
A whistle blower has filed a 257-page complaint about the government approval of lab-grown meat.
Lab-grown meat is not something that has ever been in the human diet, and yet its advocates are deceptively calling it “clean meat” and acting like it’s a better substitute for natural meat from a farm.
