Do not commit to any future development in Kingswood Park in Deerfield Township, Ohio to allow time for the following work to be completed:

1)      Conduct a thorough environmental impact study, based on current conditions, to understand the impact any development would have on water runoff, as well as the impact of destroying existing creeks, ponds, woods, prairie, wetlands, and resultant impact on wildlife. It is our understanding no such study has taken place.

2)      Host public forums where focused time can be spent on Q&A regarding the proposed development of Kingswood Park and its relationship to the overall plan for Warren County /Deerfield Township within 60 days.  Deerfield Township trustees should share in this session all analysis done on the impact development will have on traffic in the adjacent neighborhoods.

3)      As part of the “development options”, consider keeping the park as green space and allow reasonable time for a proposal/solution from this group to keep the Park primarily green space with limited/no development.

Background: Kingswood Park, a 100+ acre former golf course, was originally purchased by Deerfield Township for future development.  It was used as a passive park until closed for construction in March 2017. Construction is underway to bisect the park with a 5-lane highway as part of the extension of Innovation Way.  Additionally, proposals have been requested for fully developing the park for a combination of retail and residential uses.  The park has been actively used for many years now and hosts several events such as cyclocross races, farmers' markets, cross country races and practices for high school and college. There is significant potential for the park to boost property values and enhance the community if left as greenspace.

While the original plan was to fully develop the space, we believe the space will be more valuable for Deerfield Township residents as a largely natural setting.  See our Facebook page: “Keep Kingswood Park” (formerly known as "Friends of Kingswood Park") or our website: keepkingswoodpark.com for the latest updates
