Keep DTE Accountable for their Substations!

National power conglomerate DTE has, for the past several decades, held equipment to standards that are apparently not very high.  One recent example was an explosion in a Royal Oak MI location, knocking out power for several days.

I believe we must begin to hold this LARGE company more responsible for their equipment and hold them more responsible to maintain that which we pay for.  Their equipment hasn't seen upgrade in decades, just bandaids that ultimately failed. 

We need to get a law on the books holding them accountable and we need that ... RIGHT NOW. 

As of the recent incident in Royal Oak, over 2,000 people were without power. That includes businesses, residences, and infrastructure. This went on for over 2 days.

DTE'S response? Day one, they handed out small bags ice, bottled water, and movie ticket vouchers. On day 2, they set up a generator system as a stop-gap that failed 4 hours prior to when it was expected to, once again leaving the city in darkness.

What this petition aims to do is this:

1. Make DTE upgrade ALL current power stations to the highest possible current day standards.
2. Enforce regular monthly matience.
3. Enforce Yearly State inspections.
4. Set up a state-by-state State-wide oversight committee to hold the DTE conglomerate accountable.

If we succeed,  this will help to guarantee that substandard equipment, personnel, matinece, etc is no longer the reason for power failures and explosions of these stations.

If we lose, DTE's behavior will continue unchecked, and any time their stations fail, you will be left in the dark and at their mercy.
