Keep Dr. Sherrow at OU
This petition had 678 supporters
Please keep Dr. Sherrow at Ohio University.
Dr. Sherrow is an integral faculty member at Ohio University. He has made concrete differences on our campus and advocated unfailingly for student rights. Unfortunately, the Sociology/Anthropology department at OU has denied him tenure. This means that his job is on the line and he may have to leave OU. It is imperative that OU students stand in solidarity to keep him at our university.
Dr. Sherrow is exceptionally qualified to secure tenure, proving this through his highly regarded research, prestigious publications in respected journals, television appearances, and service to our university. He single-handedly reinvigorated the OU Anthropology Club. Because of his efforts, many students over the past 6 years have been able to develop their career objectives and obtain experience by networking with his professional contacts, setting up trips to important anthropological sites, securing internship opportunities, and staying current on anthropological issues.
Losing Dr. Sherrow would be a great loss for Ohio University and its students. He brings prestige and attention to the university as well as the Sociology/Anthropology department. Students and alumni have come together to speak out about the unfair removal of a beloved professor. He has impacted the lives of many students in immeasurable ways and we’d like to ensure that he remains at OU and continues to help OU students succeed.
This petition has been provided by the OHIO Anthropology Club at the request of students to help keep one of the best professors OU has to offer at our university. We have asked students, alumni and friends of OU to sign in support of Dr. Sherrow. We ask you respectfully to please help keep Dr. Sherrow here.
