Keep Carter Wilbanks in the Homecoming Court

Keep Carter Wilbanks in the Homecoming Court
Why this petition matters

Everyone as a community needs to be educated on what is happening at Canyon High School. The decisions of administration has greatly impacted a disabled student and family.
Carter Wilbanks was in a terrible accident when he was younger. He has a TBI due to this. He is a true miracle and fighter. Along with himself, his family has over came many obsticals. Getting a totally different son after the wreck, taking care of a disabled child physically and financially, Carters lawn care company ect. Although, Carter is disabled he works his tail off. He is a straight A Senior at Canyon High School. Due to his TBI, he does say things that you typically wouldn't hear one say. He said the "n" word during conversation with a African American. Although, he apologized verbally and in a written letter, received lunch detention, the admin decided to take him out of homecoming court which he was leading in votes. This is the same admin that was at a school activity setting around Carter and his African American friends calling each other the "n" word in play. Mind you Carter is dubbed "the cracker". No one gets in trouble for that. This student has state and federal rights that are being violated.
By not taking action Carter will not be able to participate in the Homecoming court as a Senior. He is in the lead for votes.
By no means is it okay for anyone to use derogatory remarks, one must understand what happens with a TBI. We must hold our educators responsible for being knowledgeable.
