Why this petition matters

Started by Richard Bull

In 2020, Boris and Carrie Johnson spent £58000 on decorating 10 Downing Street, including wallpaper designed by Lulu Lytle costing £840 per roll.

"Wallpapergate" has been a talking point of the corruption of Boris Johnson's government and much discussion has been directed towards its removal.

I, however, propose that we campaign to leave the wallpaper (or at least a portion of it) in place, to serve as a reminder to all future leaders that the residence, just like the position, is temporary. It would also serve as a lurid reminder that corruption at the top will not be tolerated.

I propose that from now on, all redecorating costs should be given to charity until such time as new wallpaper is absolutely necessary.
