Bryan Mitchell got in trouble for making a mistake at school. Bryan was arrested and charged at South River High School on Friday February 7, 2014 for having an unloaded shotgun on school grounds and two vyvanse pills in his car. He had been hunting the night before and in his haste to get to school on time forgot that the gun was there. The two pills were just another stupid mistake, had been in there for weeks and were not opiates or of the addictive nature. It was investigated thoroughly by the police as well as the school and both readily admit there was never a threat. Unfortunately the school has a zero tolerance policy and Bryan has been recommended to be expelled. Bryan has been accepted into Pfeiffer University with a scholarship and being expelled has the potential to ruin this opportunity. Bryan has NEVER been in any trouble, he hunts, fishes, plays lacrosse and football and never starts any trouble for anyone. He is the kid who will stick up for the others being bullied and always has kind words to say to everyone. Bryan was arrested, spent about 9 hours in a jail cell and because he turned 18 two weeks before this had his "mugshot" plastereed all over the television, newspaper and social media. He is being punished the same as a kid who walked into the school with a loaded weapon and pointed it at someone. We are asking everyone to sign this in support of a lesser punishment than expulsion. A punishment that will allow him to go back to school, play his last season of high school lacrosse, attend prom, walk across the stage with the kids that he has spent the last 4 years with and not potentailly change the path of continued education that he has worked so hard to achieve.
