Under the current law, a child care employee can start to work BEFORE their pre-employment screens, such as a background check, and a child maltreatment check, are completed. They can continue working until the results are back. If there are positive findings, only then is the employee terminated. This process can take up to 30 days. Keep AR Kids Safe wants to change that. We are proposing that a child care employee CANNOT start to work until all background checks/screens are completed.
