Why this petition matters

- The Leaving Cert class of 2023 have not sat a state examination before due to the Covid-19 pandemic, therefore they do not have the experience of years gone by in terms of exam timing, examination rules and the stress of state exams.
- Grade inflation has also placed significant stress on the class of '23, and students who have already sat their exams and are reapplying to the CAO will be at a disproportionate advantage.
- These students also faced major disruption to their education throughout 5th year due to both student and teacher absences, the wearing of masks, dealing with the grief of losing loved ones to the virus and also dealing with mental health issues as a result of lockdown.
- If we are forced to sit the exams in the traditional manner, this will be a grave injustice to the class of '23. Sign this petition to show that the class of '23 will not submit to this disregard for the wellbeing, and future, of students.
