Keep 48-Minute Periods at Emerald Secondary College

Keep 48-Minute Periods at Emerald Secondary College
Why this petition matters
Emerald Secondary College has been using 48-minute periods for years. We are used to these times and don't want them to change.
Current situation and what will happen if the 5*60 timetable is introduced:
Currently, our classes last 288 minutes in total (298 with home group), with 72 minutes for breaks. After this change, this would be 300 minutes, with only 70 minutes for breaks (60 if home group is still 10 minutes long). To make up for this difference, the school day would either have to be longer, or they have to reduce our break time. There are almost no benefits to this timetable and Emerald Secondary College students believe the confusion that would ensue from a different timetable is not worth the change.
Another problem is that 10 minutes are needed for home group. Removing home group is one way to get 10 spare minutes, almost eliminating the inevitable 12 minute reduction of our breaks. The people I've spoken to regarding this issue said that they would oppose this idea.
All the teachers I have spoken to have denied that the day would be longer.
All of this confusion and lost time isn't worth it for 12 minutes of extra class time. So we, the students of Emerald Secondary College Students are banding together to show the school that we do NOT support this.
