What's the government buying these days? Hollow point bullets, hardened checkpoint booths and radiation pills

I find that the Department of Homeland Security has ordered enough hollow-points to lay down all of the country's citizens--twice over--to be terrifying enough; violence only promotes violence. If you prepare for war, you can bet that's what you'll get. Let's stick somma this dough back into libraries and schools, please.

Having lived and worked most of my life in and around Keene I'm certain that even if the one big event A YEAR we have will be safe from terrorists. How about homeland security spend that money towards educating people? Perhaps that is a better way to stop "terrorism" in our own country.

Ridiculous, Keene. This is a premeditated excuse for excessive force. Keene police barely need guns, much less a bulletproof tank with gun turrets. Somebody's going to get shot, just like in Brattleboro (http://justiceforwoody.wtc7.net/story/long.html). The cruisers they have now are more than adequate.
I'm raising my children in this town, and having this thing running the streets makes me feel anything but safe.
The only positive thing this will bring to our community is making "touch a truck" day a little cooler for the kids.
Not worth a quarter million dollars, folks.

This armored personnel vehicle is not needed by the city of Keene. Local police forces should not be militarized. They are not at war with the people they are sworn to protect and serve. Keen is not a dangerous war zone. Domestic police officers have kept the peace for generations without needing armored vehicles (that despite the grant, one assumes will need to be maintained at local expense.)

I grew up and lived in Keene, Cheshire County for many, many years and have no idea why a tank would be . There isn't one. Someone is hoping to make a bunch of money off this deal at the people's expense. I don't want a tank in the PD parking lot when I go home.
