Install pedestrian crossings on A264 Langton Road & Major York’s Road
This petition had 436 supporters
Given the extent of usage and the absolute need to cross at these hazardous and extremely busy points, we call on KCC Highways (@KentHighways) to install pedestrian crossings urgently at the most appropriate and technically feasible points:-
- On Langton Road between Rusthall village and St Pauls’ Church and Common opposite
- From the area of the car park on Major York’s Road across that road to the pavement and Common opposite
On Langton Road a very serious accident and several minor incidents have already occurred and others are easily predictable. Traffic frequently speeds around the shallow bend that leads children between the church and the rest of the village and has difficulty slowing down in time by the time pedestrians are seen.
On Major York's Road the absence of a proper path on the car park side forces pedestrians to share the entrance/exit with traffic whose drivers are concentrating on selecting the best lane to negotiate the upcoming junction. The situation is set to become worse when National Cycle Route 18 joins up to this point.
