Public Schools to allow Private companies send RBTs for Children who have Autism.
1:58 children are diagnosed with Autism. Alabama passed the insurance mandate in 2017 for ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy to be covered by private insurance companies in our state. Slowly but surely coverage has expanded and more self pay companies are providing coverage as well. The next big step is to help the kids in the school systems and vice versa. Most school system claim they cannot afford 1:1 aides for children with Autism yet they complain about their behaviors to their parents and threaten to kick them out of school. Why can’t these kids get the same education as their peers. All they need is a little bit more redirection and prompting and they could be just as successful in the long run. If private ABA companies were able to provide school systems with the RBTs to run behavioral intervention plans and bill through insurance, why wouldn’t the schools want help. They wouldn’t be spending the extra $30k a year for the aide and the kids would benefit. Win/win. These wouldn’t have to be IEP goals, they could be written as a 504 plan so the student can receive service from an outside agency. Please consider signing this to help these amazing kids and their families!
