The Edmond Pettus bridge was named to honor a documented segregationist. A man who personally benefited from slavery. A man who was a Grand Dragon in the KKK, and a US Senator.
Let’s all work together to change the name of this bride to honor a man who almost died on this bridge for our rights. It’s 2020. Let’s stop waiting for folks to die before we honor them. I can not find a more fitting way to honor Mr. Lewis.
