Alabama Child Abuse Registration and Community Notification Act
0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!
Did you know that people who are convicted of child abuse are NOT required to be on a public registry?
Do you know that a convicted child abuser could live right next door to you and you would not know unless they were specifically a sexual abuser?
Did you know they could volunteer at your child's school because there's no public registry that would allow you to see them for who they really are? These are people that have even pleaded guilty to child abuse and they are not required to register publicly. We don't think you know, because we didn't know. We have to bring awareness to this today!
Our children should be safe--at all times.
It is not ok for those convicted of child abuse to receive anonymity. They do not deserve it, but more importantly, this leaves our children vulnerable.
Without this law, your child could be left in the care of a convicted child abuser and you would be none-the-wiser.
It is my hope, that through this petition, we can move forward with writing a Bill that requires anyone who has been convicted of child abuse to register and abide by the strict laws that the bill promises to enforce.
It is never ok to knowingly and wilfully abuse a child. And it is time that Alabama stands up for our children.
