Katie Couric invited Jada Pinkett Smith on her show to shed light on the anti-human trafficking efforts of her organization and in the same week hosted 50 Cent (self proclaimed P.I.M.P). Glorification of the PIMP culture, regardless of involvement, continues to promote the degradation of the victims of sex trafficking and all slave labor and removes the power of their voice.
This link explains the issue of PIMP glorification and the a part of the current movement to undermine and expose it:
We were shocked and surprised to learn that within the same week, your show condemned sex trafficking by having Jada Pinkett Smith and survivors of DMST on your show while glorifying the PIMP culture that promotes DMST by welcoming self-proclaimed PIMP 50cent as a guest! There is a direct connection between the commercial sexual exploitation of girls in America (and around the world) to the culture of the ‘American Pimp’. Glorification of the PIMP culture, regardless of involvement, continues to promote the degradation of the victims and removes the power of their voice. As advocates for children and as modern day abolitionists we regret our support of your show recently. On behalf of young boys and girls everywhere, we cannot and will not stand by while media and pop-culture contributes to the sale of children as sexual commodities for ratings sake. I respectfully ask that you issue a statement apologizing for the disregard of Ms. Jada Pinkett Smith, on behalf of her organization Don’t Sell Bodies, and all of the survivors out there trying to fight for a world where girls are not for sale.
