Premier Wynne, Protect Car Accident Victims in Ontario!
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!
The Law Society of Ontario has proposed changes to the way personal injury lawyers collect their fees, and have submitted these changes to the provincial government for approval.
The proposed changes will allow personal injury lawyers to collect their fees from a larger pool of funds than is currently allowed. The result will be more money for lawyers and less for accident victims and their families. There is currently no limit in Ontario on the amount a lawyer can take from their client’s awards, and the current average fee is 30% of the client’s award.
The Law Society says its proposed changes will protect accident victims, but all they will do is protect the interests of personal injury lawyers.
Money meant to help people recover and give their families peace of mind will be filling the pockets of injury lawyers instead.
We are urging Premier Wynne to reject the Law Society's proposed changes to the Solicitor’s Act.
Please do not make it easier for unethical lawyers to take even more money from vulnerable people who need it more!
