End Peel high school teachers strike and maintain current class cap sizes

This petition is to request that the government end the Peel high school teachers strike by enforcing back to work legislation as too much class time has been irretrievably lost. The devastating impact to students has put them at an unfair disadvantage to their peers and has had profound negative psychological and emotional effects as well as the obvious academic effects. End this strike now, it is still possible for students to boost their grades with remainder of school year. Summer school must also still run as it is a crucial way that many students depend on in getting credits. We see no reason that negotiations cannot continue while teachers teach and if needs be, let them work to rule by cancelling extra-curricular activities and not writing comments on report cards. To be clear though, we believe that cap sizes should maintain their limits as over-crowded classrooms will result in an inferior education for our students. Education is NOT an area where cuts should be made, but instead it is an area that should constantly be invested in. Currently, Ontario’s education system is not something to be proud of as students have been kicked out of school for 6 weeks. Certainly those outside of Ontario no longer hold our education in high regard. Kathleen Wynne, you are our Premier and you have an obligation to also protect these students and their futures. Stop passing the buck, step up, leave cap sizes alone and end this strike now.
