Keep Fracking Out Of Ontario!

Keep Fracking Out Of Ontario!
Serious concerns are being raised about the effects of hydraulic fracturing — more commonly known as "fracking" — on water, the climate, wildlife and people's health. Fracking projects commonly use millions of litres of water and tens of thousands of litres of unidentified chemicals that are injected into the ground at high pressure to extract natural gas from shale rock formations. Approximately 90% of this chemical cocktail returns to the surface and seeps into local water supplies. Widespread opposition, evidence of water contamination, and the need to fully understand the serious consequences of fracking have led governments in Quebec and France to institute a moratorium and ban the practice, respectively. Today we are asking Ontario to do the same. I urge you to join other provinces that have prioritized water protection, climate stability and public health by placing a ban on fracking!
