Greenwood High School Soccer: let us play on grass
This petition had 416 supporters
After contacting our district's assistant superintendent regarding our concerns with playing on artificial turf, the administration has made the decision to make the soccer teams play on the artificial surface.
The Greenwood High School soccer program would prefer to play our games on the lower field, a grass field that is still being maintained by the district. We are only asking to play on the existing grass field, not for the district to demolish/replace the artificial turf.
As soccer players, artificial turf causes an increase in turf burn, tears in the skin caused by turf beads, which is prevented in football due to their padding. Turf burn is one of many problems soccer players face when playing on the artificial turf field.
The Greenwood High School soccer program has a history of playing on the lower field for more than 20 years. We are simply asking to play on the natural grass field which is still being maintained by the district.
