Safer Schools For Our Children!

0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!

Innocent children, teachers, and administration are dying when they are going to school because they aren't properly protected when they go to school everyday.

In light of the most recent tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school in Florida last week, we have decided to take a stand and make a difference for our children! I don't know about you, but I am terrified that when I kiss my girls goodbye in the mornings and send them off to school that it might be the last time I see them--NO ONE should live like this. We could go on and on about gun laws, but at the end of the day I don't want to wait on our government to possibly change gun laws- we need to protect our children and keep them safe right now, and not wait for legislation that may or may not pass.

We DEMAND that all Charleston County Schools and all other schools around the country be safeguarded with metal detectors, bullet resistant glass at every entrance and exit by the start of the 2018-2019 school year in August.

We want immediate layers of protection, including the presence of more teachers and administrators in the parking lots, entrances and exits before school, during building transfers, and after school. We want hourly police patrol at every school from 7am-5pm.

We want an identification check for campus visitors that screens more than child predators and custodial issues.

Every airport in the country figures out how to shuffle over 2,500,000 people in and out of airports every day efficiently-we too can do the same. Why are airports, our local town halls, courthouses, and federal buildings armed with metal detectors, but our children's schools are not?

Also, please read this article that was posted two days before the Florida shooting about SC schools! This is already up for discussion but we need to keep pushing!
