WILSONVILLE HIGH SCHOOL - Join the Walkout For Safer Gun Legislation

0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!

On April 20th, the 19th anniversary of the Columbine shooting, students across the nation will walk out of their classrooms as a part of an effort to stimulate productive dialogue and legislation promoting safer gun laws. We as Americans have grown complacent, turning a blind eye to gun violence; it is our responsibility to shift the paradigm and ensure a safe America for future generations. Public school shootings have some of the deepest impacts on communities, children and families alike.

Our Goal is to put pressure on voters and our government to pass more effective gun legislation that will confront the long overdue safety issue in communities, schools, and homes. We can no longer only accept thoughts and prayers. It's time we address this. We want to force politicians to take a stance on gun control. We want people to form their own opinions and ideas to promote our safety. We want change, and we want it now.

What We're Going To Do: On the 20th of April, 2018, at 10:00 A.M. We'll be wearing orange (learn more at https://wearorange.org/ in solidarity with victims of gun violence. If you'd like, many are sharing these petitions, voicing their opinions and displeasure, and protesting online. Some will join marches, make signs or banners, and share their testimonies of surviving gun violence or loss as a result of it.

Why? It's up to you to decide. Everyone has their reason.
