Matt McIntyre started this petition to Governor Kate Brown and

I’ve been a felon for many years, I’ve had it hanging over my head it’s actually held me back from getting jobs. I’ve completely changed my life around, it’s been eighteen years since I’ve had any charges. Till I hired a law firm they had me believing they were expunging my record. So I’m not big into firearms but when the pandemic hit I thought my wife and I should own a gun for protection. Come to find out I still had some old drug charges and other stuff that comes along with addiction. So I’m charged with falsifying documents in the transfer of a firearm. We’ve payed this new attorney $5000. I would have payed record gone what ever it would have cost to have my record expunged, if they would had been honest with me. I’ll I’m asking for is some kind of reprieve to set aside all those minor drug offenses and what was connected to being an addict. I’ve cleaned my life up and live a clean life now, I even own my own business and my wife is a Rn for Clackamas county health department. We live a frugal life style and don’t have a bunch of money to hire another attorney to finish my expungement. If I wouldn’t have had to hire an attorney to represent me on this recent charge. I could have just had my whole record cleared, and done right! What bothers me is we we’re having this done so I could get my passport so I could go with Ginny my wife to go see our daughter in Quebec. I know your a good person Governor Brown, my wife and I have voted for you for years, we are big fans of most all your policies. We really like how you have handled the pandemic, and the fires we were affected by the Riverside fire and were evacuated from our home for about ten days. I’m just asking you if you could please help us out with this thing that has held me down for to many years. Cases are out of Union county Oregon. And I figure that the changes to the new drug laws why should my old PCS charges still be felonies?
