Outkast is more than a legendary rap duo. They are OUR legendary rap duo. Outkast's now iconic debut album Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik - with 68 references to the city - put Atlanta on the map. Their groundbreaking, distinctly Southern sound paved the way for the vibrant music scene the city is now known for all over the world. As Creative Loafing writer Rodney Carmichael wrote: "OutKast helped engrave the city's identity into pop's collective consciousness."

On September 27, 2014, Outkast will play a hometown show in Centennial Olympic Park. In a statement to Billboard.com, Andre Benjamin said, "Coming from Atlanta gave us the freedom to be whatever we wanted to be because no one was paying attention. Now that everyone is, we want to say thank you."

Let's show our hometown heroes the love they deserve. Mayor Reed, please declare September 27 Official ATLiens Day!
