Residents Welfare Associations, New Thippasandra Ward 58 started this petition to SECRETARY, (KARNATAKA STATE ELECTION COMMISSION NO. 8, 1ST FLOOR, K.S.C.M.F. BUILDING ANNEXE,) and

As  long time residents, ward committee members, representatives of Residents association in New Thippasandra Ward , we are surprised at the proposed de-limitation of wards, especially Ward 58 ( New Thippasandra, New ward No. 91).

The State Govt had issued a gazette notification on the delimitation of wards coming under the BBMP.  This wards New Thippasandra ward 58 ( new ward 91) has been trifurcated deleting major areas like New Thippasandra ( towards 80ft road), 515 colony, HAL 3rd stage ( corner of JB Nagar main road and 80ft road intersection), B M Kaval, and Micheal Pallya to surrounding wards in an unscientific manner, bifurcating small by-lines, households, and commercial main road ( @1.2 km length) of New Thippasandra into three wards.

The main objective was to have an average of 42000 voters. Ward 58 already had 41000 voters before delimitation. There was no need to complcate the ward boundaries. Even that objective of average 42000 voters per ward has not been met by this exercise as many delimited wards have <38000 or >47000 voters as per gazette.

Such delimitation exercise must be conducted by the State Election Commission and not by BBMP as per the constitutional. Hence this delimitation is illegal as it did not involve the election commission

Besides the delimitation has drawn the border of wards in such complex manner, the logistics of operation to SWM and Garbage collection, Water and Electricity subdivisions, the Storm Water Drains are split between multiple wards besides proposed new ward 91 and 90 & 101 surrounding, making it a administrative nightmare

The ward committee nor the citizens representatives are consulted while doing this exercise which has all the characters of being politically motivated with conflict of interest of the BBMP officials

We request the Delimitation of ward 58 New Thippasandra ( New Wad 91) be withdrawn and earlier ward boundaries retained.
