Appeal to stop sale of Park and Civic Amenities space in BDA layouts

It is imperative to note that intention of formation of Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is to fulfill housing needs of underprivileged citizens in Bangalore, who are domicile for 15 years in Karnataka.
In Karnataka, while developing any residential layout by private or government, it is mandatory to allocate 15% of total layout area for park & open space, 5% of total layout area for Civic Amenities (CA) and 5% for land bank to taken up infrastructure projects in future as per District and Town Country Planning (DTCP), Government of Karnataka laws.
However, when such rules are stringently imposed on private developers, evading such acts by BDA on its own developed projects by allocating those demarked areas to profit oriented commercial organizations rather to allocate it for welfare of residences is violation of laws.
By such violations, residences are missing their rights of developing Park and Civic Amenities like Library, Community Hall, Health Club, Swimming Pool, Personal Counselling Centre and many more common people welfare facilities in their layout.
While considering above facts, it is found that recently formed Arkavathi layout in Bangalore with 21 blocks having total 8,500 allottees is missing great opportunities of having above mentioned Civic Amenities.
Having understood this flaw, 1,300 allottees of 19th block Arkavathi layout formed their Welfare Association by name “Arkavathi Layout 19th Block Residences Welfare Association” to fight for the rights of residences of BDA formed layouts across Bangalore.
As an initiative towards this cause, following steps have been taken by association:
1. Approached BDA Commissioner for seeking approval for allocation of space for Civic Amenities
2. Approached concerned MLA, local corporates and other BDA officers
3. Constantly following to take this request through required process and getting approvals
4. Approached major corporate companies to get funding support under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme
Presently this request is pending for final approval from BDA for long term. Success of this movement, will bring smile on the faces of common men and help their dreams come true.
