The Region of Waterloo has been under an extended mask mandate for many months. A recent article by CTV News claims that Officials with the Region of Waterloo plan to reschedule a meeting to discuss the possibility of EXTENDING the area’s mask bylaw.
Lifting the restriction on time, and, in sync with the Provincial recommendation, will still allow those who want to wear masks, to continue wearing them if they want to.

• Many people believe that the efficacy of masks are questionable.
• Many people have medical conditions that make masks impractical and/or unsafe, including asthma. 
• Lifting the mask mandate on March 21st will keep the Region of Waterloo in sync with the rest of the Province of Ontario.
• Lifting the mask mandate on March 21st will keep the Region of Waterloo in sync with many other regions around the world.
• Lifting the mask mandate will encourage children (and adults!) to have improved social interaction & communication. 
• Many people have already 'gone through' specific variants and are confident in their own natural immune status.

Giving the residents of the Region Waterloo the choice is a sensible, practical and safe way forward. Lifting the mandate has already been recommended by the majority of 'scientific experts' across Canada and across the globe. Extending them for the region is unnecessary and unhelpful as we look forward to a safe and healthy community for all.
