Access to music, sports, and the arts has been drastically restricted by online ticket brokers operating in MA.  These ticket companies buy large tracts of tickets and sell them at a significant profit, often 500% more than the face value of the actual cost on the ticket.  This prevents children from experiencing the arts and limits the ability of working class families to enjoy sporting events and cultural activities together.

This petition demands legislation that would restrict the amount these legal scalpers can charge in the markup of ticket sales and limits any profit to a handling fee of no more than 20% of the face value for all tickets sold in the state of Massachusetts.

We do not believe it is right for legalized scalping to exist. If an individual was caught by authorities outside a venue selling a ticket for a profit, they would be arrested. We believe it should be illegal for a corporation to do the same thing.
