Elementary school times need to change for VP, Farmingville and Barlow
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
Elementary school children need to attend normal school hours. BMES, FES, and VPES have been waiting 8 years for the school start time to change. This change is long overdue. Initially, the late start time was suppose rotate with other elementary schools. VP, BMES and FES should have moved to an earlier start time years ago. The rotation never happened. VP, BMES and FES have been treated unequally for long enough. We are now asking that all elementary schools start between the hours of 8:10-8:30. Elza Libhart started a petition you may have signed. However, we need more elementary parents to stand behind this vital issue. Recently an article was written in the Ridgefield Press which didn't even mention the elementary start time problem. Now is our chance to push this again. The BOE wants to hear from all parents before May 22. It seems that the HS start time has been a priority on their list, however once again the late start elementary schools are being left behind. Studies show that elementary school children are more successful emotionally and academically when beginning school earlier in the morning. Let's not forget the family time, sports time, or play time that is lost when our children get off the bus at 4:20/4:30. The BOE needs to hear our voices before a decision is made with the HS start time. Please sign and pass the petition. Thank you
