My only child, my son Charles was murdered on August 13th 2019,  the man who did this horrific crime is only 23 years old. Since the defendant did not have any prior criminal record he was sentenced to 13 years in prison.  Kansas has different levels for sentencing someone when it comes to murder. Every other state in the union murder is murder. Life in prison, or the death sentence. I'd like the law to be the same in Kansas. The man who murdered my son will be walking free in 13 years, maybe less if he gets good time, but my only child, my son can't and won't be.  I would like to see the law changed in the state of Kansas, so that in the future a parent who unfortunately looses a child in this horrific way can rest assured knowing the petpertrater will be behind bars for the remainder of their life.
