Police action against concert organisers in Kalimpong which led to 2 deaths in a stampede
Why this petition matters
When the world is still recovering from a pandemic the quaint hill town of Kalimpong and the authorities bring out the most negligent self and allow a group of young budding entrepreneurs to organise a music concert. Cities like New York and London who are very well equipped with the latest facilities in healthcare and sanitation too have restricted concerts to Zooms or without physical presence.
However on the 3rd of January 2021, the music concert organised in Kalimpong turned out to be a crowded mess to say the least. There were no social distancing measures in place. The Organising Committee (OC) were focused on creating a buzz and completely ignored all measures. No heed was paid to the well being of concert goers. The entry gates lacked presence of security personnel and no checks were made of people in an inebriated state.
There was total negligence on the part of the organising committee and the health and safety of attendees were ignored.
Hence, during the event there was chaos, uproar and mishandling of the crowd which led to a violent stampede. The stampede led to the death of 2 individuals and four individuals were seriously injured.
This kind of negligent behavior needs urgent attention and we would like you to sign this petition so that strict action is taken by the Kalimpong Police under Sections 336, 337 and 338
Please sign this petition to fight this negligent entrepreneurs organising unplanned events and ask the police to take strict action.
