The prevalence and intensity of emotional and mental abuse is dramatically increasing throughout our school district with little to no consequences. What is bullying?  "To seek to harm, intimidate, or coerce." Our kids are bombarded by peers each day. We send them to school, which is mandated, to brave these youth who intend to harm, intimidate, or coerce our children each day. They have such fear and anxiety! Unfortunately, our district does not feel this is important enough to take immediate action with a zero tolerance approach. Any consequences are minimal. 

We, as parents, must stand up and advocate for our kids. The school district must take action. We petition that ;

1.Kalama School district implement a zero tolerance policy.

2. A full investigation be done into all cases of bullying since pre-covid, 2019. Ensure proper steps were taken by staff and administration. If not, consequences must be imposed.

3. A task force be implemented to ensure change and accountability. This will comprise of parents, caregivers, community, etc.

4. A new policy will include consequences (strict) to those who bully. To include but not limited to, expulsion and mandatory counseling.

We urge the district to take this seriously and begin implementation immediately. With a new policy be upheld with 30 days as well as a task force/review team for all bullying actions within the district.
