Due to the Corona Virus outbreak, mothers are being expected to go through child birth alone with out the support of anyone they know.

I, myself, am pregnant and due for a c-section on April 16th but due to the Corona Virus my hospital has told me that my husband will not be allowed to be with me for the birth of our daughter.  My story is not the only one like this... women who are going thru all forms of delivery are being subjected to this mandate (vaginal and c-sections). It’s not right or fair to the mothers to have to go through this alone.

New York recently got their governor to sign an order against this, and we need governor Newsom to follow suit for the mothers in California. Not allowing mothers their support person is against WHO guidelines and could lead to increased risk of postpartum depression in women and other difficulties. Plus our nurses are already being overworked, having to provide additional assistance to a mother who have been left alone with out her support person is just going to put a large drain on them.

Furthermore, in some hospitals, after labor & delivery the support people have been told they have to leave. This is not the case at my hospital but I have heard from countless women that they have had this experience. I’m hoping together we can fight these policies to allow women to have the support of at least one person of their choice for the duration of their stay at the hospital.
