Ban 240 Litre rubbish collection bins in Kāpiti Coast

"We call for Kāpiti Coast District Council to amend their Solid Waste Bylaw so that only waste contractors who rent general refuse bins to a maximum size of 120 litres (with exceptions for commercial businesses and farms) are licensed to operate in the district. In addition we ask KCDC to hasten their plans for diversion of organic waste and make this either free or very cheap for householders to use."

This is the first vital step to help address our district's surging waste problem. Large bins have been shown to contain a higher percentage of organic waste and recycling than smaller bins or bags. Taupo Council has already banned the big bins.
