RDs are the only reliable and qualified individuals to advise patients and clients in dietetics. They have both the education as well as the practical training necessary to contribute to the healthcare team. Anyone can call themself a “nutritionist”.

I am a registered nutritionist seeing all the harmful effects which occur due to individuals claiming to be nutritionists with no scientific degrees, personal trainers, celebrities and ‘influencers’ particularly on social media, running self-employed business’s with no qualifications or experience with evidence based research. The title of Registered nutritionists who have studied on nutrition science degrees, who have paid very high tuition fees should be a protected one.

I am signing because I am a registered dietitian in BC where our college doesn't have protection of the title nutritionist. I too have seen some very misleading and dangerous information dispensed by people calling themselves nutritionists.

Dietitians offer science based practice backed up by the latest evidence. This ensures the people are getting accurate and safe information about their health. This is very important!

I am signing because the public needs to know Registered Dietitians are well educated and trained health professionals. Other so-called "nutritionists" are not, and should not be allowed to promote themselves as nutrition experts.

I want public to get evidence based information about nutrition from health care profession who are regulated like registered dietitians. It is confusing to the public to understand that nutritionist is not a regulated title in Ontario and they can get unscientific even potentially harmful nutrition information from nutritionist

I'm a R.D and also a nutritionist because it's a reserved title in my provonce (Qc). I think it's important not to confuse the public with titles that don't mean anything.
