Stop Closure of Schools for Voting!!

As a working parent and 2 elections within 2 months i am absolutely furious that in this day and age councils still insist on using schools as polling stations and i believe it is totally outdated and unfair.
Why with all the other available public funded buildings nowadays are we still using schools? There are libraries, community centres, churches plenty of other options!!!
Our children are losing a days education for absolutely no reason, yet if we wanted to take our children out of school for a day we are told no because it's imperative that children attend school everyday and each day they lose is detrimental to their education!
Why does any election need to take place on a weekday? Why can't it be on a Saturday?
As a working parent i feel that the councils don't take into account the problems that using schools for voting causes for people who are at work and don't have anybody to care for their children. Most people are not able to just take a day off work and there are no other options available to help apart from looking for a childcare provider which is highly unlikely as most don't just take children for one adhoc day and when looking for childcare providers as responsible parents we would usually spend months researching such a service and visiting them to get a feel for them and how they take care of children etc - I for one don't know a single person who would just randomly pick a childcare provider to look after their child for one day! Also, why should anybody have to pay for childcare when the children are supposed to be in school!!
I have started this petition because i feel it's time things changed - let's make the local councils change their old fashioned ways and stop them using our children's schools for polling stations and make them use other public funded buildings!!!!!
