I would like to bring to your attention one of the larger complications emerging around us. The Canadian housing market is out of control. The price of a small family detached home is almost over 1 million dollars. This is not affordable for any middle class family. The situation of the housing market will be a big threat for future generations. We need to resolve this problem right now. Some examples of faults in the market are: flipping, bidding, lack of transparency in buying/selling and lack of buyer’s privacy. Flipping is done by the seller. This should be either stopped or there should be additional taxes applied to the seller and the seller should not be allowed to flip atleast for a year or 2. People who do flipping as a business should need a government license for doing this.
   The new system of bidding is really trending and it is creating many problems. It’s hard to believe an average house is getting 70 offers but this is what real estate agents tell us while selling houses. Condos and Townhomes are experiencing the same situation.
  I strongly believe that the regulation of buyer's  information security is being misused by real estate agents. I think this because no one can question the agents to produce proof of multiple offers. The buyers privacy is an important aspect and should be maintained but at the same time there should be freedom of information available to other buyers who validate the offers.
  To get more transparency and to create some fair accountability towards real estate agents, there should be a government owned and controlled online portal where real estate agent should be liable to login every offer so that offers can be recorded. This will help other buyer's to have a way to verify the numbers of offers stated by agents are valid.
