Tell Canada to pressure Israel to respect human rights of Palestinians

Dear Prime Minister Justin Trudeau,
On March 30, 2018, the world was witness to a massive show of violence and murder against tens of thousands of unarmed protesters.
Some thirty thousand Palestinian civilians in besieged Gaza tried peacefully marching into the current nation of Israel, which is built on where their grandparents were expelled from in 1948. The right of return is guaranteed by international law in the Geneva Convention and UN Resolution 194 on the Question of Palestine.
Palestinians in Gaza- who are surrounded from both land and sea and air by the Israeli military and who are living under an embargo under which severely limits access to basic necessities like food and water and power- marched towards the barricades set up by the Israeli military. Although in some cases rocks were thrown, the protest was for the most part peaceful and completely unarmed. At no time were the lives of Israeli soldiers in danger.
The Israeli soldiers used not only vast quantities of teargas and rubber coated steel bullets, but also live ammunition. Palestinian demonstrators were shot not only as they marched towards the soldiers, but also as they ran from them. There is video evidence of men and women and children being shot as they were waving flags, running from the soldiers, and even praying. The Israeli army also targeted and wounded as well as killed Palestinian journalists and teargassed medics. In addition to the sixteen Palestinians who were shot and killed on March 30, more than one thousand two hundred were wounded. Four of the wounded died later that week.
On April 6, 2018, ten Palestinians were shot and killed and some 1200 were wounded. On April13, one Palestinian was shot and killed and some one thousand were wounded.
Canada is a nation that has a proud history of defending human rights, and we need to stand up as we have in the past when human rights abuses took place.
We the undersigned urge you to use political, economic and military pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the State of Israel until it:
1) Ends its occupation and colonization of all Arab lands and dismantles the Wall.
2) Recognizes the fundamental rights of the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality.
3)Respects, protects and promotes the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties as stipulated in UN Resolution 194.
