Students need CESB for 2021

Students need CESB for 2021
Why this petition matters

Post-secondary students in Canada are in need of financial help. With COVID-19 even more prevalent, and much more deadly than it was this time last year, college students are struggling. Lockdown after lockdown has killed the tourism, retail, and restaurant jobs that students depend on in order to make it through the summer months. There is no recourse for students this year to earn a living.
Families and working class individuals have been continuously helped through the restructured Employment Insurance program. This has left out the needs of students who were unable to work through the first COVID-19 summer and relied on CESB. Students have had no opportunity to earn the minimum qualifiable income in order to receive continued benefits like every other Canadian citizen.
What is needed is either an amendment to the Employment Income rules to allow full-time students the ability to receive benefits OR a resurgence of the CESB program to help support students through another challenging summer.
This request is directed at our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and our Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland. Please also contact your local MP to spread the word and help the student in your life. You can find your local MP here: https://www.ourcommons.ca/members/en
