Stop genocide in Myanmar (Burma)

To: Honorable Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and all honorable members of parliament.
I would like to bring to your attention to a well-orchestrated war against humanity in Myanmar (Burma). For decades nationalist mobs led by monks, committed atrocities against the Rohingya minority community in Burma.
Only crime committed by these innocent people has committed is being born a Rohingya. These atrocities are being committed with the financial, political and military assistance of the present and past governments and military. In past prosecution and human rights violations were committed in the dark. Over the past few years these atrocities have taken a new turn. Now the government of Burma and extremist elements have started to act with total impunity with no regard to human life and dignity. The Rohingya community is being driven from their ancestral lands, their homes and villages have been burned, their children (including babies) have been slaughtered, and their women have been victims of mass sexual violence, including being abducted and made sex slaves in rape camps. Many Rohingya have perished while trying to flee to neighbouring Bangladesh, which is now turning their back on the refugees.
We Canadians have a long tradition and heritage that values humane rights, dignity and always been there for the just cause. We no longer can turn a blind eye and pretend ignorance. Now is the time to send a strong message to stop this atrocities. What hurts me the most is that an honorary citizen of Canada is in the helm of the Burmese government.
The silence of the global human rights champions & advocates are deafening!
Our silence is an indirect endorsement to the atrocities that are being committed.
I humbly request the Canadian government and our honorable members of parliament to take meaningful steps immediately to send a strong message.
- Immediately urge the Burmese government to stop all violence against the ethnic minority.
- Stop all aid to Burmese government.
- Stop issuing Canadian visas to the officials of the Burmese government
- Immediately revoke the honorary Canadian citizenship bestowed upon Aung San Suu Kyi
- Urge UN to initiate investigate human rights violations
- Urge the government of Bangladesh to provide temporary refuge to Rohingya.
This is the time to walk the talk to show who we really are. Canadians used to fight for the just cause our initiatives in Kosovo goes to show what Canadians can do for humanity. We’ve been always there for the just cause.
Please don’t let our future generation blame us and say we didn’t do anything. Now is the time to act.
