Pornhub is the world's largest and most popular porn site. With 42 billion hits a year, (more than Netflix, Yahoo and Amazon), Pornhub has become a massive social disruptor that has reshaped the content of media and our culture. Pornhub has been allowed to hijack the narrative about women’s sexuality by normalizing brutal violence and the dehumanization of women.  Mindgeek, the owner of Pornhub, has gotten away with mass promotion and monetization of millions of videos of criminal violence, rape, assaults of women and girls and call it entertainment.

IN FACT, THE VERY SAME VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN THAT PERPETRATORS GO TO JAIL FOR, ON PORNHUB, YOU CAN RATE IT FOR FUN.

In a world where 1 in 3 women become a victim of abuse, it’s not only urgent, it's insanity not to stop the cultural sources that mass promote it. We DEMAND that Pornhub remove all videos that contain and promote Domestic Violence and that the US Department of Justice make it illegal to promote, sell and monetize violence against women and girls.

The campaign is created by Knock Out Abuse West in Los Angeles, a not for profit organization that raises awareness about victims of domestic violence. Since July, we have been holding a weekly protest outside of Mindgeek/Pornhub’s offices in Los Angeles every Friday, fighting their massive global assault on women’s safety, joined by many organizations and experts.

As revealed in a recent expose in The New York Times,  https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/04/opinion/sunday/pornhub-rape-trafficking.html, Pornhub is infested with rape videos, trafficked underage girls, unconscious women who are raped, revenge porn, and massive amounts of nonconsensual content. Real and enacted assaults on young women and teenagers is the trend with titles like “extreme brutal gang bang” “teen getting destroyed” “plastic bag suffocation” “extreme choking” “teen passed out” being the new normal. 157,000 videos show up under strangulation as a popular category, when in reality brain cell death from choking is rapid and often fatal.

Women assaulted in porn videos are paid to act as if they love being abused, setting a dangerous precedent, teaching boys that female sexual partners enjoy being hit, gagged, slapped and assaulted. Consumption of violent pornography makes, with statistical certainty, men more sexually aggressive, and produces attitudes which promote and trivialize violence against women. A meta-analysis of 22 studies from seven different countries concluded that pornography consumption is associated with an increased likelihood of committing acts of verbal or physical sexual aggression, regardless of age.

Today 90% of online pornography includes violence against women and with companies like Mindgeek targeting boys as young as 8-11 years old, WE ARE DEALING WITH A SOCIETAL EMERGENCY.

PORNHUB IS GROOMING THE NEXT GENERATION OF ABUSERS.

Nurses report that teenage girls are showing up at medical facilities around the world with wounds to their uterus and strangle marks from being assaulted during sex. Young women report getting slapped around, pulled by the hair and mouth and being called whore on their first sexual experience by porn damaged men. A website exists with women who have died from violent sex, their abuser claiming innocence, saying they were simply mimicking porn videos.

THIS IS AN EMERGENCY! 

We demand that the US Department of Justice, the Canadian Department of Justice and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shut down Mindgeek/Pornhub and hold its executives responsible for its crimes against women and girls. We demand that the US Department of Justice make it illegal to promote, sell and/or monetize violence against women. We demand that Pornhub/Mindgeek immediately remove all content containing and promoting domestic violence.

1. REMOVE ALL VIDEOS CONTAINING STRANGULATION, EXTREME CHOKING AND PLASTIC BAG SUFFOCATION.

2. REMOVE ALL VIDEOS OF WOMEN BEING HIT, BRUTALIZED AND TORTURED.

3. REMOVE ALL CONTENT IN THE TEENAGE CATEGORY AND WOMEN LOOKING YOUNGER THAN 18 YEARS OLD

4. REMOVE ALL VIDEOS OF VERBAL ABUSE, HUMILATION AND DEGRADATION.

5. REMOVE ALL VIDEOS OF SEXUAL TORTURE AND RAPE.
