There were 139 residential schools across Canada between 1880 & 1996. On May 28th of 2021, the bodies of 215 children were found on the grounds of a residential school in British Columbia that closed in 1978. This discovery is both a clear reminder of Canada’s history, and an opportunity for Canada to do right by the Indigenous People and their families who have suffered for generations at the hands of colonizers, the church, and the Canadian Government. 

Tell Justin Trudeau and the Government of Canada that the right thing to do, the respectful thing to do is SEARCH THE GROUNDS OF THE OTHER 138 RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS IN CANADA FOR THE OTHER LOST CHILDREN, some of which were open until 1996. Now is not the time to share empty apologies while avoiding the real issues. We need to hold those responsible for this genocide accountable. We need to move towards true and genuine reconciliation. We need to acknowledge and actively try to break down the systems that have caused decades of generational trauma throughout Indigenous communities across Canada.

Let’s take the first step to equity and equality, and return these lost children back to where they belong. Where they should have always been. Where they never should have been taken from.
