We SENIORS demand you stop the CERB claw back your government has instituted targeting employed seniors who qualified for this replacement for lost wages.

When we earn income from employment, we get $5,000 in earnings that is exempt from deductions when factoring our GIS. So for example if we earn $8,000 from employment, only $3,000 is factored in when deciding the amount of our GIS.
However, your government in a punitive and very cruel manner has decided that replacement income from CERB will not have this $5,000 provision. 

What that means in real life terms is starting in July 2021, many seniors who did the right thing and closed their businesses or could no longer work, have had our GIS reduced dramatically, plunging us into dire poverty for the next year.The worst part is that CRA did not inform seniors of their intention to claw back the CERB in this underhanded manner. There is nothing on any government website that indicates this is what would happen if you applied. If you hadn't wanted seniors to apply you should have not allowed us to claim CERB. If some seniors did not qualify or claimed too much, they should have the same rights as any other citizen and be allowed to appeal the decision and set up a reasonable payment schedule. 

If we had had this crucial information, most of us would never have applied for the CERB. In addition your Form 3041 which allows for a recalculation of GIS for seniors with drastically reduced incomes for 2021, is not available on line but can only be mailed to them after a 6-8 hour hold on line at CPP. Why is this form so difficult to obtain and why is there a 6 month wait to have our GIS reevaluated?
