PM Trudeau: Keep your promise to change the voting system- Make every Canadian vote count!
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
Since early in the 2015 campaign, Justin Trudeau repeatedly promised that the 2015 election would be the last under the inherently flawed ‘first-past-the-post’ voting system, which lets parties win a majority with less than half of the country supporting them. This means that most Canadians votes do not count for anything.
2 months ago, the PM recommitted to changing the voting system, saying things like “Canadians want a better system of governance, a better system of choosing our governments” and “I make promises because I believe in them” and “Canadians elect governments to do hard things and don’t expect us to throw up our hands when things are a little difficult”.
However, he recently announced that he is abandoning his long-standing promise of electoral reform, saying that the issue “is not a priority for Canadians”.
This is a simple matter. Electoral Reform was one of Trudeau’s earliest campaign promises. Therefore, he must change the voting system before the next Federal election.
This betrayal of the Canadian voters must end now. With your help, I know we can stop it.
