Dear  Right Honourable Justin P. J. Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada,

Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness,

Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism.

On behalf of many concerned Canadian Muslims, who constitute a vital and important part of this great, multicultural country, we, the undersigned, have been closely watching the developments of the 2018 Public Report on the Terrorism Threat to Canada. In the report, Sunni and Shia Muslim groups have been repetitively mentioned and linked to extremism, which imposed serious harm and is high likely to promote hatred towards normal, peaceful Muslims throughout Canada. In addition,

People right now are highly misinformed because of the media related to alt-right and populist movements that constantly spread hate and promote fearmongering towards Muslims through the Canadian society, and risk the dismantling of the social fabric of Canada. This report just added insult to injury to the Canadian Muslims who are caught between the hammer of the alt-right and the anvil of Daesh and al-Qaida and the like groups.

We would like to thank the World Sikh Organization of Canada for bringing Muslims' concerns to the Canadian government. However, it appears that the unsupported claim of Sikh extremism part, which was surely out of context, and would have harmed the Sikh community, was taken care of without removing the signals to Sunni and Shia Muslims.

We would like to suggest, as Honourable Ralph Goodale did in a recent newspaper article, to remove any reference to religions, to honour the provisions of The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, while only referring to the radical ideology related to the specific groups mentioned in the report. We would highly recommend that the released report be retracted and rephrased by removing any mention to Sunni or Shia Muslims.

It is also important to mention that Daesh and al-Qaida are actually considered far right-wing groups who have their own interpretation of Islam.

Other groups and individuals would respectfully send you more support/petitions for the above kind requests.

In wars, weapons harm. In peace, words harm.

With our great regards and respects,
