Government Of Canada: Stop The Use Of Disturbing & Graphic Images During Pro-Life Protests
This petition had 108 supporters
Pro-life members have been gathering in peaceful protest in extremely busy areas around the GTA.The protesters carry incredibly large, graphic, violent, as well as, disturbing signs and images. Many of which include, but are not limited to photos of: dead fetuses, dismembered fetuses, and incorrect information and falsified photos of abortions.
The images mentioned above can be extremely distressing and disturbing to Canadian citizens who do not have the opportunity to consent to the exposure. This includes, but it not limited to: minors, the mentally ill, survivors of trauma, abortion, rape, ectopic pregnancy, domestic abuse, and war-torn countries.
While we recognize that this type of expression is protected under the Charter(2 (b)), the citizens of Canada should not have to be subjected to these triggering and distressing images. Minors especially, if children under the age of 18 are not permitted to watch a violent movie or play a violent video game then they should not be exposed to violent, disturbing, and often false, information and images without consent being asked for.
We, the undersigned, Citizens of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to Intervene and regulate through laws where and what type of imagery can legally be displayed when consent is not given during peaceful protests or demonstrations.
