Growing up in an Ontario city, sometimes walking to school would seem like a great option. Good excerise is a must. Sometimes after walking for an hour, you'd have to turn right back around and go home because you've begun your monthly cycle. Tampons and Sanitary napkins are not available for free in public institutions, although this should change. I've learned that many girls do not have access to sanitary pads and are forced to miss school as a result. Missing a number of days of school per year often leads to frustration and anxiety. With many individuals living below the poverty line, commercial sanitary pads available are too expensive to afford for some woman. Therefore by providing these necessities at no expense to woman in public facilities can help a number of us become more confident at school and in the workplace. As condoms are free for our male population, I believe that our female population should be granted a similar right that may seem like a small implementation, but is a very important necessity for the lives of all women. What we really should be doing is changing the dialogue around menstruation to begin with so that women will not feel ashamed about having theirs. Yes, condoms are not purchased for free by organizations although they are supplied for free. Feminine products such as Tampons should have an equal advantage.
