The childcare fees in Canada have been on the rise long before covid -19 and they continue to increase. During the pandemic many parents and children have been suffering due to parental loss of employment. It will not be possible for parents to find new available employment if their children are unable to have care while they go on interviews and complete their job search.

There would be extreme benefits if childcare in Canada was fully subsidized for all low income families. Mothers and fathers would no longer worry about childcare fees and having to risk leaving their children home alone, at parks on their own, walking home from school on their own, and risking sending their children to unlicensed childcare programs.

Linked below is a chart that demonstrates the childcare fee subsidy that is available to families with income in Canada page 48.

I have linked two articles the first discusses the childcare fee increases and the second discusses 'free range' parenting and the double standard amongst caucasian and white families.
